Robert Burns is the most well-known poet who wrote in the Scots, a language spoken in Lowland Scotland. Burns also wrote in English with a Scots dialect and in standard English. Besides writing poems, Burns also collected traditional Scottish folk songs and adapted them. To this day Robert Burns is a cultural icon to all the people of Scotland.
